"This is no secret:
Take a special camshaft, bigger inlet valve, 32 mm carbs and open exhaust as hardware, a lot of lighter parts in the motor and a light clutch and other finetuning like a perfect working electronic ignition as software, and you will have a nice result.
For electronic experts should it be no problem to modify the injection mapping, like "Power Commander ", but that's not my world.
Or simply plug and play , 820 cc kit. If you can get one......
Everyone wants the power, but who wants to spend the money for it?? That is the biggest problem, not the parts. The camshaft together with modifications at the old cylinder heads-special springs and bigger inlet valve- will cost you a minimum of 750 Eur.
If you take a 750 cc engine and give it a moderate tuning with a light clutch, camshaft with cyl head and new bearings +++++? you find 2000,- Eur at the bill.
The 750 crankshaft takes 8000 rpm without problems, up to 8500 rpm you find some broken, that is the experience of the racing cart guys, they have used 750 - 4V engines some years ago on the race track too.
A few weeks ago we had a little street race between the 820 cc Guzzi and the Elephant with the 750 SS motor ( 61 hp at 8500 rpm ) it is nearly the same, no great difference, and 180 km/h at 3pm Sunday, is enough top speed on a normal road while all the grandpha's in their polished cars are driving 75-90.........
In other words, with 820 cc + light clutch you can push up the 750 Guzzi nearly to the level of a Duc 750 SS. With a special camshaft and a bigger inlet valve +++ it should be possible to push up the top end power and to keep the midrange power and in my opinion that's OK. I will test the camshaft without bigger valves in the NTX, i think that's the most important part. Bigger valves make only sense with bigger carbs."
