Hi All,
I have my new MG Sport 1200 , and the preceding owner give me also the Step 1 KIT, not installed.
He told me that is not for daily usage, and that with the dedicated ECU the behavior is not suggested for the daily riding in town.
I would like to change the original exhaust with one aftermarket, but because I have the step 1 kit I don't know what to do!

Can you please advice about the feeling and behavior with the Step 1 kit?
Do you believe that it is possible to use the dedicated ECU of the 1 step kit with a single original exhaust or with one aftermarket exhaust?
Or
Is it possible to use the double exhaust without the ECU racing?

Thanks in advance!
Francesco

Caro Francesco

The step 1 kit should have the ECU, the exhaust system (2 in 1 in 2) by Lafranconi, and the aspiration pipes.
So one can deduce that the ECU is set up so that it will take into account the fact that the input of air is more "free" and that the exhaust gases flow easily out of the system.
But any modern ECU will self adjust (up to a limit) according to the conditions. So you should not have any problem using the original exhaust. It should be even less of a problem to use another aftermarket exhaust, as it will be more similar in operation to the step 1 exhaust.
The problem with the step 1 exhaust is that it does not allow the use of side paniers. So not so easy touring. The other problem is that it is illegal to use on public roads, as it is mot homologated (noise levels, catalyst).
If you want to be "legal", you can get another aftermarket exhaust (Agostini, Mistral, etc) that will be homologated.
As about the "tromboncini" for the input of air, remember that the air filter normally used does indeed restrict the flow of air, but it serves a useful purpose. It cleans it, so that no nasty particles enter your cylinders.

About the ease of use now: Propably the step 1 ECU will give you more power at higher revs, and less torque at lower revs. So it all depends on your driving habits and on how deep your pocket is, when you fill up your tank and when the garage will present you the bill for the spare parts...

more than clear.
I have all the parts of the 1st step kit. I was thinking to install only the exhaust and not the ECU and tromboncini to avoid collateral effect to the engine that you mentioned in your post. Because I have the kit and I believe is good to put it instead to spend other moneys in one aftermarket exhaust.
do you believe that this configuration (exhauts installed, ECU and tromboncini non installed) can create problems to the moto?

Thanks
Francesco

Dear Francesco
Nobody can answer your question  Confused
My opinion is to put your first 1 Kit to the self garage and enjoy your great machine .    motoguzzi
Nevertheless if you want to change the exaust buy from Agostini .

Notice
I wonder what is your opinion about the manubrio ? Hear we have changed the original as the moto Guzzi to the next model   ok
